This fiery memoir is capturing the hearts and spines of humans everywhere as a result of the author's unwavering attitude and true grit. Cherry Tigris builds armies of dolls out of toilet paper in order to distract her from beatings and neglect at the hands of her mentally ill adoptive mother. What could have been a sad story about child abuse becomes a miraculous story about survival that is wowing every life it touches.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04084149372997859131noreply@blogger.comBlogger36125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2869876395889018551.post-55880938209196014382016-03-09T11:16:00.000-08:002016-03-09T11:39:10.204-08:00Cherry Tigris in Nashville on March 24th
Why is it important to get out there and connect with other humans?
That is a question I have been plagued with for most of my life. I am afraid of social situations where I fear I am going to be judged or victimized by others. For a long time, I found it much easier to tuck myself away in my tiny room with my laptop and get by on my virtual presence.
That only works for so long. Yesterday was a deep day of reflection for me as I thought about comments and suggestions I received from others that felt more like reminders to keep my child abuse story secret.... that I should be embarrassed or ashamed of the PTSD that resulted from crimes waged against me by wannabe status seeking adoptive parents. I am no longer willing to keep their secret.
